About World Industries
In 1987, World Industries didn’t just enter the skateboarding scene—it redefined it. Founded by freestyle legend Rodney Mullen and the irreverent Steve Rocco, World Industries was born out of a desire to break away from the corporate, rigid surf-skate establishment of the era. It handed the steering wheel directly to the street skaters, bringing a raw, unfiltered, and intensely creative energy to the culture.
They changed the shape of the decks, pushed the boundaries of progression, and gave skateboarding a much-needed dose of attitude.
By the mid-1990s, they introduced the world to Flameboy, Wet Willy, and Devilman. These iconic, mischievous characters quickly became global symbols of youth culture, rebellion, and a reminder to never take life too seriously. Through legendary videos, a fearless skate team, and a refusal to play by anyone else's rules, World Industries helped shape the blueprint of modern street skating.
Today, it's still fueled by that same independent spirit. Whether you grew up watching their classic videos or you're just picking up your first board, World Industries continues to deliver decks, completes, apparel and footwear that celebrate the heritage, humor, and pure progression of skateboarding.
World Industries: Still shaking things up since ’87.
